EMERGENCY nurse 17 Ophthalmic patients present to the A&E department with a wide range of problems; their treatment, however, generally involves a small range of ophthalmic medications. Ultimately, patients’ compliance with treatment – and the course of their illness or condition – often depends on the information given to them, and the knowledge and skills of the A&E nurse.
